Repairs and Restoration works can be a stressful time. Whether a pipe burst, a tree fell on your property, or a pot was left on the stove, rest-assured, we’ve seen it all! The team at Melbourne Rebuild has decades of collective experience across all trades and repairs and, whatever the cause, we aim to make your repairs pain-free. Our approach is to treat you like family, to repair your home as if it were our own. We respect your space, we take the utmost care, we turn up on time and we clean up after ourselves.

INSURANCE RESTORATION AND REPAIRS

You’ve signed your paperwork and received your Scope of Works, and now you just want it fixed. Right? Once we receive the Scope of Works from your Insurance Assessor, our Project Management team will be in touch to discuss the repairs. You can expect a call within 24-48 hours.

Your repairs are a 2-Step process:

  1. Site Visit Check Measure: one of our team will conduct a final check measure. This is where we can collect colour samples, measure up any materials to be ordered, and cross-check the Scope of Works to make sure nothing has been missed.
  2. Restorations Commence: Once the materials have been ordered, we’ll be in touch with your ETA of materials and repairs. This is usually 1-2 weeks after the check measure, though sometimes longer if your materials are special orders.

The Scope of Works outlines what your Insurance Company believes necessary to reinstate your building to its pre-event condition.
It will cover 3 aspects:

  1. The location of the area of the damage
  2. The specific repair proposal
  3. All material and labour necessary to reinstate the area of damage to its pre-event condition

Occasionally maintenance repairs are required to be carried out by you before we can commence. Maintenance repairs are generally not covered by your Insurance policy and may affect your planned insurance repairs if not completed prior. An example of this could be a roof leak that has damaged your ceiling; we will not be able to replace the ceiling, until the leak has been fixed.

If this applies to your claim, it will be clearly marked on your Scope of Works and will have been raised by your Insurance Assessor.

Make Safe repairs can occasionally result in residual damage. Doors taped up, to contain mould or dust, may rip paint or plaster when the tape is removed. Or water leaks needing additional plaster removed for mould remediation. Don’t worry, this is not an unusual occurrence – and remember, it needs to happen, so you get the best result possible. So, what do you do? Take a photo and mention it to your Insurance Assessor, or to our team when we book your Site Visit, and we’ll follow it through for you.

Private works for new clients attract a small deposit invoice (approx. 10%). For larger jobs, or those with special-order materials, you may receive progressive invoices or a special-order invoice. We’ll discuss this with you during the planning phase.

We are a one-stop shop and have all our own trades. Should your works involve a specialist contractor (such as carpet laying or rendering) we’ll coordinate that for you and meet trades onsite.

Melbourne Rebuild will make all reasonable efforts to match your existing materials and finishes. In some instances, an exact match may not be possible, as the material may no longer be available. Our repair team will discuss the available options with you.

Yes, we lay down floor and furniture protection and take every reasonable step to protect your home during our repair works. Our repair team will respect your home as if it were their own, and at times may ask you to move collectables and fragile items as an additional precaution.

This really depends on the size and depth of your project. However, we have over 30 years of experience behind us and have seen it all! So, once we have finished the planning stage of your works, we’ll be able to provide you with more accurate timeframes. Rest assured, we work in days and weeks, not months.

A Major Event would normally involve an event including weather phenomenon such as a bushfire or storm that results in exceptionally high volumes of damage and claims.
